​COMPETITIONS
There is a competition at each meeting, the theme of which reflects the focus of the guest speaker's talk. The competitions are for members only and are limited to one entry per member.
Our guest speakers judge the entries and those that come first, second and third, are awarded points. At the end of the year the three members that have accrued the most points receive a discount off their membership.

Lindsay McCrae


'My Penguin Year' 

​Wednesday 12th November - 7.30pm

BAFTA-award winning cameraman Lindsay McCrae worked on the remarkable BBC wildlife series Dynasties. He lived for a year in Antartica to gain access to the penguin colonies and create the remarkable footage seen in the programme.

He will share with us some fascinating behind-the-scenes information about the preparation involved in such a challenging trip as well as how to survive day-to-day life in temperatures which were often below minus 60 degrees! Lindsay gained a remarkable insight into the life-cycle of penguins which he will also share with us.

Non-members, including men, and members from other WI branches are welcome to attend ​at the cost of  £5.00

​Our programme is comprised of a wide range of interesting guest speakers, many of which involve supporting charitable organisations.
